For some business owners, the desire to save money by avoiding a paid-marketing plan can be very tempting. Boosting your online presence organically through owned and earned channels is an important part of your marketing strategy. However, leaving paid marketing techniques does a disservice to your business. Regardless of how much you spend, you aim to spend it well.
Types of paid media
-
- Display ads: these types of ads appear on distinct sections of the site that are specifically reserved for paid advertising and are aimed at generating a quick conversion. Example: static images, text, popup, videos…
- Social media ads: it can be anything from a simple banner or image to an auto-play video. For example, Facebook’s targeting options include age, region, interests, educational background and more.
- Native ads: is a form of paid media where the ad experience follows the natural form and function of the user experience in which it is placed.
- SEM: Search Engine Marketing works based on keywords – you and other businesses like yours bid on keywords through search engines in an effort to get your website up higher on the Search Engine Results Page. Paid ads can either be Pay Per Click (PPC) or Cost Per Thousand (CPM).
- Native Advertising: is those sponsored listings at the end of blog posts, appearing on your Facebook feeds and posted to other Social Media. It can be In-feed, search ads, recommendation widgets or promoted listings.
- Remarketing/Retargeting: When people visit your site, you drop a cookie on them so that, as they travel around the web, your ads will appear to remind them about your product or service.
- Video ads: YouTube ads are the most popular,. There are other type of platforms and formats like Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo and Brightroll.
